Hi everyone! First off, I’m so sorry for disappearing again! The end of last year was a rollercoaster, to say the least, and then I became a victim of the January (okay, and February) doldrums. If you’re interested in finding out what I’ve been up to, keep reading.
If you read my Blogmas update, you know I ended up catching the flu, then caught a cold from my niece as soon as I started feeling better. Then that cold turned into a sinus infection. Clearly my immune system needs some serious help! Christmas rolled around and I was finally starting to get over the worst of the sicknesses, although a few flu symptoms were holding on. But, of course, close quarters means sharing germs, and my mom and sister ended up catching my cold, too. At least it wasn’t the flu!
Anyway, while my mom and I were in Connecticut with my sister and niece for Christmas, my dad and brother were in Seattle to watch our dogs, because every kennel and dog-sitter was completely booked. Plus, with all of us girls getting sick, they’d basically be spending Christmas in a full-on germ zone.
In a horribly sad way, it ended up being for the best, because on Christmas morning, one of our dogs got sick. By the end of the night, we found out he had cancer, and my parents made the heartbreaking (but right) decision to have him put down.
Our dog helped us all through so much, and we loved him like crazy. We’ll always love him like crazy. It still hasn’t quite hit me that he’s gone since I don’t live with my parents (he lived with them) and haven’t had to notice how quiet the house is now. Having a dog is the best, but losing a dog hurts a whole lot, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still mourning a bit.
Well, that sad part of the update is out of the way, so onto the next bit: there was basically a blizzard in Connecticut the day we were going to fly back to Seattle in early January. We ended up having to delay our flight for a few days. When we got home, the doldrums set in pretty much immediately with the loss of our dog, plus Seattle’s predictably cloudy winters. The sun has finally been out for the past couple of days, and I’m starting to feel a little more like myself – albeit a stressed out version of myself as I wait for the rest of my law school application decisions to come in.
So, long story short, December, January, and early February have been stormy, both literally and figuratively, but I think I’ve come out of it stronger than before. And I’m excited to get back to blogging, so keep an eye out for new posts! If you want to see those posts in your “Reader” on WordPress or be notified of new posts, go ahead and follow via WordPress or email. I’d love for you guys to follow me on Instagram too (@glassandberries), as I’ll be trying to post there more often!
I hope you’ve all been well, and I’ll talk to you soon!
