January 2018 Favorites

Hi lovelies! I know this is super late (click here to read why), but I love Favorites posts, so I wanted to share it anyway. Keep reading to see what I loved last month!

Makeup & Skincare

It Cosmetics Superhero Liner, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Foundation, Glossier Boy Brow, Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara

IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner ($24.00)

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best at applying eyeliner. And while I’m getting better, I still need a great eyeliner to make it easier, and this one is fabulous! It’s a liquid liner, and it’s easy to make a thin line using the pointed tip of the brush pen, or a thicker line either by pressing down harder or by using the side of the brush. It lasts all day, has great color payoff, and the brush is firm enough to keep shaky hands from making a blobby mess. If you have trouble with liner like I do (or even if you’re a pro!) give this one a shot.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34.00)

I’ve been wanting to try this since its release, especially after hearing how amazing it was. But, I’ll be honest, any time there’s a lot of hype around a makeup product, I start to doubt it. Just as an example, there’s a certain bestselling and hugely raved about drugstore mascara that is one of my least favorite mascaras I’ve ever tried. And trust me, I’ve tried a ton.

Anyway, I finally decided to give this foundation a chance, and I love it! There are so many shades to choose from – so many, in fact, that I was able to find a match for my extra fair, pink-toned skin! It has great coverage without looking like you’re wearing a mask. If you have a skin tone that you have trouble finding a foundation match for (in my case, super fair with such pink undertones that even some “pink-toned” foundations make me look like a pumpkin), definitely try this one out!

Glossier Boy Brow in Blond ($16.00)

Another fan fave that I was hesitant to try. This. Stuff. Is. AMAZING. Natural-looking brows are my jam, so I tend to avoid any product that ends up making them look overly fixed up. This is probably my favorite brow product ever, because it gives me that natural look without much time or effort, and it doesn’t leave my brows feeling hard or crusty like similar products have in the past. And if I accidentally apply too much, it brushes out to a perfectly natural finish with a spoolie.

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara ($25.00)

I first tried this mascara as a sample in one of Sephora’s mascara sampler kits. When it comes to makeup, mascara is definitely the thing I’m pickiest about. This gives my lashes loads of volume, a bit of length, and holds a curl all day without flaking or feeling dry. If you want a spidery look, you could probably achieve that with multiple coats. But if you’re more like me and want loads of volume without the spider-effect, I think you’d love this mascara!

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, Glossier Balm Dotcom

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial ($80.00)

I’ve been dying to try this face mask for ages. The packaging alone is basically my idea of perfection. But the price point always freaked me out. It’s a big chunk of change to spend on a product that could make my sensitive skin go nuts. I’m so glad I finally decided to try it. It really did leave my skin feeling as smooth as a baby’s, and it just feels nice and luxurious. I only use it once a week because it’s really strong (the packaging even says to only use it 1-2 times a week), and when that day rolls around, I get so excited! It might be my all-time favorite skincare product, for real. It comes with a deluxe sample of the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, and it’s the perfect combo!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser ($18.00)

I decided to jump on the Glossier bandwagon this month so I could see what all the fuss was about. I’m always hesitant to use new cleansers, because my standard regimen has been working pretty well (knock on wood), so why change it, right? But I figured there wouldn’t be too much harm in using it as my morning cleanser and sticking with my standard cleanser at night. I’ve also used it as pre-cleanse at night to remove my makeup. My skin has been looking great since I started using this, and I’m never one to say my skin looks great. “Milky jelly” really is the best way to describe the consistency of the cleanser, and while it’s not the most luxurious feeling cleanser I’ve tried, it definitely gets the job done, and it feels like such a treat!

Glossier Balm Dotcom ($12.00)

My lips are basically always chapped. Always, no matter how much Vaseline I slather on. I figured I’d give this balm a shot, and my lips haven’t been so soft in years. Seriously. This stuff is amazing, and a little bit goes a long way. No more lips cracking open if I smile a little too big in the winter! If you try one Glossier product in your lifetime, I think this should be the one. It’s that good.

Fujifilm Instax SQ10 Camera

Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ10 Hybrid Instant Camera ($238.00)

As a child of the 90s who grew up using original Polaroid cameras, I love instant cameras with square film. I do have Polaroid’s new version of the OneShot camera, but have been wanting to try this ever since I heard about it a few months ago. It has a screen to help with framing the perfect shot, and has filters you can use to edit before you print the picture. If you want the more authentic, truly instant shot that you can’t review first, there’s an option to simply print immediately following each picture you take. I do wish the squares of film were as big as the standard Polaroid film size, but the slightly smaller version this camera uses is still amazing. And it’s so great to be able to edit a shot, make sure it’s framed correctly, and print multiple copies of the same picture.

Well, that’s it for my January favorites! What have you guys been loving so far this year? Let me know in the comments!
